Kawaii metal meets the undead (again) as the band's latest comics tie-in goes up for pre-order.

BABYMETAL is crossing over into Marvel's zombie-verse. The band announced on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, that it will appear on an exclusive variant cover for Marvel Zombies: War Zone (2026) #1, marking its latest — and highest-profile — foray into comics.

The cover, illustrated by veteran Marvel artist Phil Noto, is limited to a 3,500-copy print run. General pre-orders opened September 1, with an A! Smart-exclusive pre-order window following on September 7 at 6 p.m. JST.

It's the second time this year BABYMETAL has planted a flag in genre pop culture beyond music. In May, the band teamed with Capcom on a five-piece merch line celebrating Resident Evil's 30th anniversary, featuring art from Capcom collaborators Hinanana and GOTO. And BABYMETAL's relationship with comics goes back further still — in 2018, Z2 Comics published Apocrypha: The Legend of BABYMETAL, a mythologized graphic-novel origin story illustrated by GMB Chomichuk.

Between a Capitol Records deal, the first frontline signing by a Japanese act in the label's history, and a Billboard Top 10 album with METAL FORTH, 2025 and 2026 have been banner years for the trio of SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL. The Marvel variant is one more sign the band's crossover ambitions extend well past the concert stage.
