BANNED BOOK CLUB gets a full-color edition
Iron Circus Comics has released a full-color edition of Banned Book Club. The YA graphic memoir, written by Ryan Estrada and Kim Hyun-Sook, with art by Ko Hyung-Ju, hit shelves on October 6, 2026, with colors by Amanda Lafrenais and a brand-new afterward about the book becoming, yes, a banned book itself.
That afterward isn't a hypothetical; it's actually been banned... in the most expected places. As Trash Kitty reported in August 2026, Texas added Banned Book Club to its state "dirty books" list — a list-based enforcement push, which critics say can pull titles off school shelves based on public complaints rather than librarian judgment.
Estrada has publicly condemned the "dirty books" list legislation, saying that the book is a hopeful story about young people building a better country through reading. And reviewers agree. Kirkus called it "a tribute to young people's resistance in the face of oppression."

The book follows life under South Korea's Fifth Republic military regime and the activists who eventually won their country back. Its original release landed in the depths of 2020, a rough time to launch anything, but it earned strong reviews and became one of Iron Circus's best sellers and a consistent backlist favorite.
The new edition runs 224 pages in a 6" x 9" trade paperback, retailing at $20, distributed by Consortium. The new afterword details Estrada and Hyun-Sook's experience of the book getting banned, which reads like satire until you remember it's all true.
Banned Books Week may be wrapping up, but the fight's not: this is the rare reissue where the real-world context is the sales pitch.
