Shojo heads, take note — Yumiko Igarashi's gorgeous, flower-drenched Georgie is headed to a new home. Manga Mavericks Books and Omoi announced a joint license for the Mann Izawa-written classic recently, with digital and print editions on the way.

The digital edition arrives in Spring 2027, exclusively on Omoi's app, with the print release arriving in August 2027.

For fans who know Igarashi as the artist behind Candy Candy, this is a must-read. Georgie is another showcase for her lush, ornate linework. The manga ran from 1982 to 1984 in Shōjo Comic, and it was later adapted into an anime series. The story follows a young orphan taken in by a family overseas — and, as the genre demands, the past comes calling.

"Georgie is a story I created by gathering the many different kinds of love surrounding her, like flower petals," Igarashi shared with readers. "As you enjoy the story, I hope you'll also take a little moment to think about what kind of love you would like to give Georgie, or what kind of love you would like her to give you. And to all of you readers who love Georgie so much, I love you!"

Experience the classic shojo story that captured the hearts of manga readers worldwide.
Georgie is a lively young girl who lives with her mother and two older brothers in the countryside of Australia.
One day, she meets a young English noble named Lowell, who changes her life forever and leads her on a quest to England to discover her roots.
First serialized in Japan in 1982, Georgie is a must-read coming-of-age story from acclaimed manga creators Mann Izawa and Yumiko Igarashi.

The news landed the same day as Manga Mavericks' Gago Hunters license — a busy Monday for the publisher. It's also a notable get for Omoi, the manga app from KiraKira Media, which keeps building out its lineup of vintage shojo.

Print pre-orders are now live on the Manga Mavericks Store!
