Preview: David Hine & Shaky Kane dig in for BULLETPROOF COFFIN: GIANT! CEASE TO EXIST at Oni Press

Reader, prepare to cease to exist. Oni Press, the Eisner- and Harvey-winning publisher that's been breaking comics conventions since 1997, has announced the return of one of indie comics' most gloriously deranged experiments: Bulletproof Coffin: Giant! Cease to Exist. The 72-page one-shot reunites original creators David Hine (co-creator of Spider-Man: Noir) and Shaky Kane (Man from Maybe, The Beef) for a fresh dose of surreal superheroics, hitting comic shops and bookstores in January 2027.

The "Ficto-Verse" was first cracked open with 2011's The Bulletproof Coffin at Image Comics, a six-issue miniseries following comic book collector Steve Neyman as he unravels a strange link between reality and obscure, pulp-era vintage comics. The mythology deepened with 2012's The Bulletproof Coffin: Disinterred, then took its first full meta-leap in 2017's The Bulletproof Coffin: The Thousand Yard Stare, the one-shot where Hine and Kane first wrote themselves into their own psychedelic universe. Giant! Cease to Exist marks the duo's first new installment since 2021's Kane & Abel one-shot, and the series' first outing at Oni Press, which will begin collecting the complete Bulletproof Coffin saga starting in 2028.
