Fact Check: No, Krispy Kreme isn’t actually making AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY doughnuts

Another internet fake has me (once again) wishing that a product were real. Last week, a mock promotional image circulated on Bluesky, X, and TikTok that showed a Krispy Kreme-branded box with the Avengers: Doomsday logo, which contained six Marvel Cinematic Universe-themed doughnuts. It included a Mystique blueberry iced with sprinkles, a Doom double chocolate, a heart-shaped Wakanda Forever cookies-and-kreme, a Captain America stars-and-stripes glaze, and a shaggy, googly-eyed The Thing "apple clobber" that's racked up hundreds of likes on its own. Unfortunately, it was fan art, not a real collaboration — but hey, maybe if I write about it, Marvel x Krispy Kreme will have a change of heart (hey, a guy can dream of that kind of power, okay?).

The artwork originates with designer Kaitlyn Shriver, who posted it to her Behance portfolio as part of a personal project titled "Avengers: Doomsday Marketing Campaign 2026 Concepts." By her own description, the piece was built to imagine a darker, more threatening marketing push for the film — and to showcase her compositing chops, she mocked up faux brand tie-ins with both Doritos and Krispy Kreme. She's said outright that the concepts "went viral" after people mistook them for the real thing.

The doughnut box started circulating out of context, stripped of any Behance watermark or "concept" label, and picked up steam fast. A Bluesky post captioned "This is frying me lmao" pulled in dozens of reposts and quote-posts, with replies riffing on the concept as if it were a genuine menu ("It's Cobblering Time," one joked, alongside speculation about a secretly grape-flavored Mystique doughnut).

On X, a post sharing the same image has since been appended with a Community Note clarifying it "was made by an artist to showcase his talents" and linking back to Shriver's Behance page.

Why people bought it: The design leans hard into real Krispy Kreme packaging conventions — box shape, doughnut-count badge, product photography style — and lands at a moment when Doomsday marketing speculation is already running hot. Genuine leaks and rumors about the film's trailers, cast, and tie-ins have been a near-weekly occurrence, which made a fake one easier to wave through unchecked.

But the bottom line is, Krispy Kreme and Marvel Studios have not announced an Avengers: Doomsday doughnut collaboration. If they ever do, don't expect it to look exactly like this, but if the internet's reaction is any indication, they might want to take notes.

Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on December 18, 2026.
