MangaPlaza, the global manga platform run by Osaka-based NTT Solmare Corporation, has crossed the 1 million member mark and is celebrating the milestone with a sitewide points-back promotion running from September 1, 2026, to September 30.

MangaPlaza is a project of NTT Solmare, which has run the platform's sister site, Comic C'moA, in the Japanese and broader Asian market for more than two decades. Launched in North America in March 2022, the platform has grown its catalog to more than 170,000 chapters, licensed from over 120 publishers, including Kodansha, KADOKAWA, and SHUEISHA. The library spans romance, fantasy, action, Boys’ Love, and horror, plus a growing slate of MangaPlaza Originals and platform exclusives pulling from Japanese, Chinese, and Korean creators. Every title on the platform carries the ABJ mark, a registered trademark verifying it's an authorized distributor operating with copyright holder permission — a detail worth noting for readers wary of scanlation-adjacent gray-market sites.

"We have been supported by so many people who love Japanese manga, and at the end of July 2026, we surpassed one million members," said a division manager for NTT Solmare’s e-Book division. "We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our customers, to the creators and publishers who provide these wonderful works, and to everyone else involved."

The company is already looking ahead to a fifth anniversary next March. "As global demand for Japanese manga continues to grow, we will devote even greater effort to bringing more Japanese manga to readers worldwide," added the division manager, "including the release of MangaPlaza Originals titles localized in-house."

That originals push has already paid off in adaptations. The platform’s exclusive titles include The Ramparts of Ice, The Ogre’s Bride, and The Duke’s Son Claims He Won’t Love Me Yet Showers Me With Adoration, all of which have gone on to anime or Netflix adaptations. A senior producer on the MangaPlaza Originals slate framed the company’s approach as culturalization rather than direct translation, with native creators embedded in production to make the localized versions land for overseas readers.

"What we value most in creating content for MangaPlaza is culturalization — adapting works to the local culture, customs, and finer nuances of each market rather than simply translating the language word for word," said the senior producer. "Native creators who are themselves fans of Japanese manga are closely involved in the actual production process, and we continue to pursue expressions that land naturally with overseas readers and resonate with them on a deeper level."
