WIDOW’S BAY sets Emmy record with 14 wins, becomes first horror series to take outstanding comedy

Katie Dippold's Apple TV+ horror-comedy just made television history. Widow's Bay closed out this year's Emmy season with a staggering fourteen total wins — eight from the Creative Arts ceremony earlier this month, plus six more at last night's Primetime Emmy Awards. That haul includes the night's biggest prize: Outstanding Comedy Series, making Widow's Bay the first horror series ever to claim that category.

The fourteen wins don't just make headlines, they rewrite the record books. The show surpasses The Studio, which took home thirteen Emmys last year, for the most wins ever by a comedy series in a single season.

Set in a quaint, cursed island town off the New England coast, Widow's Bay follows a cowardly mayor (Rhys) determined to turn his struggling community into a tourist destination — only to discover that the locals' superstitions about the island were true all along. The series has already been renewed for a second season, with Dippold joking that the follow-up is about how "everything is great on the island, and there's nothing to worry about."
