Frankenstein's Monster becomes a gothic Sherlock Holmes in PROMETHEUS GRAFT: THE SLAYINGS AT DEATH’S END

Oni Press is sending Mary Shelley's most famous creation to a Romanian castle to solve a murder. Prometheus Graft: The Slayings at Death's End #1, from writer George Northy (Yuletide, EC's Shiver SuspenStories) and Eisner-nominated artist Caitlin Yarsky (Dead Teenagers, Black Hammer), reimagines Frankenstein's monster as a gentleman detective — decades removed from his creation, scars faded, and reinvented as "Europe's most formidable mind."

The premise leans hard into genre mashup: Graft is summoned to Castle Death's End, where an immortal lord has gathered Europe's most feared supernatural factions — vampires, werewolves, witches, ghouls — to broker a fragile peace treaty. That treaty collapses the moment a guest turns up murdered in the hedge maze, and Graft has to solve the case before the assembled monsters tear each other apart.

Northy describes the pitch as an Agatha Christie whodunnit filtered through classic horror, casting the Creature, already "a living puzzle" in Shelley's original text, as his answer to Poirot or Benoit Blanc.

Yarsky, meanwhile, frames the collaboration as a genuine partnership: Northy set the parameters, and she took the visual direction from there.
