Telekinetic chaos doesn't stop at prom: CARRIE gets a Season 2
Mike Flanagan and Stephen King are returning for more, just 15 days after the Carrie series debuted.
Carrie isn't done wreaking havoc. Prime Video announced today that Mike Flanagan's reimagining of Stephen King's debut novel has been renewed for a second season, just over two weeks after the series premiered on October 7.
Flanagan returns as showrunner and executive producer, with King back as executive producer. According to Prime Video, the series hit number one in more than 105 countries out of the gate. All eight Season One episodes are streaming now.
Carrie's story "doesn't stop at Prom"
The renewal promises that Carrie's story "doesn't stop at Prom," with "new revelations," "major character arcs, and plenty of shocking twists" on the way. Details on plot, cast, and a premiere window haven't been announced. A teaser announcement video is available (see above).
"For 50 years, audiences have known and gravitated to Carrie White's story," Flanagan said. "From the beginning, we imagined a story that goes far beyond the prom, and I'm incredibly grateful for Stephen's trust and support in exploring what comes next."
King kept it short: "It's bound to be thrilling."
Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, said the show is resonating with longtime King fans and a younger crowd, "with particular strength among female viewers."
Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, cast after a search that saw nearly 1,500 actors read. Samantha Sloyan plays Margaret White.
