SDCC '26: We recommend the “complicated and ridiculous” TREK MARRY KILL LIVE! panel at San Diego Comic-Con

On Saturday, July 25th, 2026, Star Trek podcast Trek Marry Kill (TMK) will be receiving its very own San Diego Comic-Con panel at 4:00 PM in the Neil Morgan Library: “Trek Marry Kill Live!” Billed by the official TMK Bluesky account as “The panel nobody knew they needed from the only podcast in the galaxy brave enough to judge Star Trek,” we assure you: you won’t want to miss this!

The TMK podcast is based on the “30-40-30 Rule.” The longstanding fandom axiom suggests that 30% of Star Trek episodes are excellent, 40% of Star Trek episodes are OK, and the remaining 30% of episodes are bad. However, as series host and friend of the site Bryan Murphy is fond of noting during episodes of TMK, even the bad episodes are still our beloved Star Trek, and therefore worth subjecting yourself to at least once (except maybe and “Four-and-a-Half Vulcans,” anyway).

To test the theory, each typical episode of the TMK podcast spotlights a specific Star Trek episode and runs it through a rubric of essential analytical considerations, including “The Anton Karidian Award for Best Actor” and “Could this episode have been hornier, and would that have made it better?” At the conclusion of the episode, each host determines whether the show deserves a “Trek” (an OK episode), a “Marry” (an instant television classic), or a “Kill” (“Brain and brain! What is brain?”).

Murphy’s fellow host, Kristen Ray, will, of course, also be appearing on the “TMK Live!” panel. Joining them will be three recurring guest co-hosts. These are Shereese Alexander (The TNG Podcast), Hector Navarro (YouTube’s Heroes Reforged channel), plus actor/comedian/Star Trek: Lower Decks defender Katie Hampton (just don’t ask her about Peanut Hamper).

When reached for comment on the panel, Murphy told Trash Kitty Comics N’ Stuff: “This will be the most complicated and ridiculous thing our podcast has ever done.”
