2026 marks 25 years since Cinnamoroll’s debut on the market, and Sanrio's fluffy flying pup is marking the occasion with his own comic. IDW Publishing (via CBR) has confirmed its next comic book title in its Hello Kitty and Friends line: Hello Kitty and Friends: Cinnamoroll, a one-shot anthology gathering three stories from three different creative teams.

Sina Grace — one of the book's three writers, alongside Sarah Graley and Caleb Goellner — announced his involvement on Instagram, stating that “any friends in the real world” may have seen the the weeks of donned Cinnamoroll merch (a bag charm, hand sanitizer, and lip balm) on the creator while he worked on the script and declaring the character his new favorite. Art on the anthology comes from Megan Homeier, Graley, and Eggbug Studio.

The official solicit synopsis reads:

“Who’s that up in the sky? It’s a cutie, it’s a puppy… it’s Cinnamoroll! Enjoy three darling stories from the comics world’s most joyous voice, celebrating everyone’s favorite Cinnamoroll!"
"Follow this shy pup as he finds the perfect soup recipe to bring his sick friend back to health. See how he handles a rival bakery filled with chaotic pranks by the mischievous Lloromannic! You can even see how Cinnamoroll balances having so many sweet friends!"

As stated above, the timing of the anthology’s release isn't incidental. Cinnamoroll, designed by artist Miyuki Okumura, first debuted in 2001, and this anthology arrives as part of his silver-anniversary victory lap. He's also riding high with fans, as Cinnamoroll recently placed second in Sanrio's 2026 survey (behind Pompompurin and just ahead of Pochacco), which asked fans to rank who their favorite Sanrio character is.

Cinnamoroll is the second Sanrio-focused book under IDW's new partnership with the company, following the August 2026 release of Hello Kitty and Friends: Hello World, written by Mario Tamaki, with art by Cody Lemieux. The story kicked off a new mystery only Kitty White can solve.

Hello Kitty and Friends: Cinnamoroll #1 goes on sale December 2, 2026.
