NYCC ‘26: Grant Morrison takes the license to thrill, with new JAMES BOND comic
Grant Morrison is going full 007.
Ian Fleming Publications Ltd has partnered with IDW Publishing on all-new James Bond comics, and the first mission lands in the hands of one of comics' most influential writers. Morrison's opening arc, Sunbreaker, is a six-part adventure that aims to be nothing less than a "definitive Bond story."

Morrison, a self-professed lifelong Bond fan, pitches the series as a funhouse-mirror version of our own world—"a world of intrigue, violence, double cross and deception." Expect unfamiliar situations, unfamiliar foes, new cars, new gadgets, and what Morrison calls a "terrifying new ultimate villain ripped straight from the headlines." Their Bond? A "killer shark among minnows"—"charismatic, ruthless, unstoppable."
Morrison also places Bond in the pantheon of British icons like King Arthur, Robin Hood, and Sherlock Holmes, and says the chance to "put my own stamp" on the character was too good to pass up.
Amanda Douglas, Managing Director at Ian Fleming Publications, called the partnership "a new chapter for James Bond comics," praising IDW's shared ambition and respect for Ian Fleming's creation. Simon Ward, Publishing Director, said some Bond adventures "can only be told through comics," adding that IDW's pitch for the future of original 007 comics "wowed" the team.

IDW CEO Davidi Jonas framed the deal as the publisher's licensed-property philosophy in action: no "supplemental and optional stories," just "radical swings" that stay true to what makes a franchise tick while reinventing it for today's comics landscape.
Bond debuted in Fleming's 1953 novel Casino Royale. More details on Morrison's series, plus additional IDW Bond comics, will be "declassified in the near future."
